Martin Birkholz acquired Farm 8 from his mother, Anna Catharina Hoffmann, formerly Birkholz, now Kluck, and her husband, Michael Kluck, pursuant to a contract dated November 12, 1829, for 250 Thalers and a life estate. Farm 8 was 28 morgens.
Anna Catharina Hoffmann, widow Birkholz, inherited the property following the death of her first husband, Christoph Birkholz, in the division of the estate with her children pursuant to the inheritance agreement of August 18, 1819, for the sum of 392 thalers.
Christoph Birkholz became the owner of the property 37 years prior (approximately 1794) upon his marriage to Anna Catharina Hoffmann as a gift from his parents-in-law.
Gramsdorf and Gembitzhauland Church Records 1813 – 1819
On Sunday, March 8, 1818, at 8 o’clock in the morning, Anna Rosina, daughter of the farmer Christoph Birkholz of Gembitzerhauland, died of smallpox at the age of 16 years, 10 months, and 10 days. Her calculated birth date is April 27, 1801.
On Sunday, January 16, 1819, at noon, the farmer Christoph Birkholz died in Gembitzhauland at the age of 56 (calculated birth 1762) from tuberculosis. He is survived by his widow, Anna Catharina, née Hoffmann, and four children:
- Peter, 15 years old (1804 – 1866).
- Martin, 13 years old (1805-before 1865),
- Michael, 10 years old (born 1808).
- Anna Justina, 8 years old (born 1809).
The estate consists solely of farmland.

Martin Birkholz married Anne Caroline Mittelstädt (born 1811) on December 26, 1832, in Czarnikau. He died sometime before the marriage of his daughter Anna Rosina (1837-1884) to Michael Oelke (born in 1817) on August 13, 1865.
Gottlieb Fedder was born on March 31, 1818, in Wischinhauland to Martin Fedder. DNA results from his descendants points to him being the stepbrother or nephew of Anne Eleonore nee Fedder Mittelstädt the owner of Farm 3.
Gottlieb married Anna Dorothea Lüning (1818-1857) after April 1842. After their marriage the couple jointly owned Farm 41 until 1846 when they sold it to buy Farm 38. They sold Farm 38 in 1856 and then purchased Farm 8.
Dorothea died in childbirth on December 28, 1857. The widower Fedder was responsible for 8 children under the age of 15. On July 25, 1858, Gottlieb married Carolina Auguste Bertha Schmidt from Briesen, Kreis Czarnikau. The couple had 7 more children, five of whom lived to adulthood. Gottlieb Fedder died October 30, 1877.
August Friedrich Hundt married the widow, Carolina Auguste Bertha nee Schmidt Fedder, on February 26, 1878. August Hundt was born on April 3, 1841 in Springberg, Kreis Deutsche Krone. The marriage record says that he was a landowner in Podstolitz, Kreis Kolmar at the time of his marriage.
Ludwig Mittelstädt was born October 14, 1844, on Farm 33 to Johann Gottlieb Mittelstädt and Dorothea Elisabeth Kurz. He married Pauline Auguste Pfeiffer (1853-1891) on April 30, 1872, in Polajewo, Kreis Obornik. Pauline Auguste was the daughter of Johann Pauline Auguste died March 23, 1891. After her death Ludwig passed Farm 8 to his oldest daughter Alwine Hulda Bertha. Ludwig died on January 4, 1923 in Gollin, Kreis Deutsch Krone, West Prussia.Martin and Ernestine Wilhelmine nee Lindemann Pfeiffer from Radom, Kreis Obornik. She was also the sister of Pauline Ottilie nee Pfeiffer Witt, the owner of Farm 4. From the time of their marriage until 1878 the couple lived in Schwaben Colonie, Kreis Obornik.
Alwine Hulda Bertha Mittelstädt was born on March 29, 1873 in Schwaben Colonie, Kreis Obornik. She married Robert August Reich (1859-1929) on May 11, 1896, in Gembitzhauland. Shortly after their marriage the couple emigrated to Texas. They arrived in Galveston, Texas on November 6, 1896. Alwine died on March 6, 1958, in Coryell County Texas.
August Julius Spletter was born June 4, 1862, to Ludwig Spletter and Ernestine Krüger in Kahlstad, Kreis Kolmar. On January 24, 1897, he married Bertha Elizabeth Westphal. She was born on October 1, 1873, to August Westphal and Pauline Heyn. Julius Spletter likely died between 1903 and 1908, although no death record has been found. Following his death his widow owned a cottage property on Farm 4 until 1908 when she marries Emil Krüger, the owner of Farm 32.
August Kurtz was born March 12, 1873, in Niewiemko to Ludwig Kurtz and Henriette Marten. On April 29, 1903, he married Auguste Wanda Papke (1880-before 1922). The couple moved to Gembitzhauland on February 25, 1904.
Property Tax 1863-1865
The farmer Gottlieb Fedder is the owner of Farm 8 in these tax records.
Church Affairs and Parish Tax 1876- 1879
For the years 1876 and 1877 Gottlieb Fedder is listed as the owner of Farm 8. Following his death in 1877 his wife’s second husband August Hundt is listed as the owner in 1878. In 1879 Ludwig Mittelstädt is now the owner of the property.

Building Register June 1, 1907
In this record August Kurz is recorded as the owner of Farm 8. The farm consists of three buildings. A house, a combination cattle, horse and pig barn, and another barn with a wooden stable.
Community Register 1921 – 1933
When the community register is created after Gembitzhauland (now Gebiczyn) becomes part of Poland, August Kurtz is still living on the property with his nine children. His wife Wanda is not registered. She likely died between the birth on the couple’s youngest daughter Frena on December 2, 1919, and 1922.
There is no death record that has been found for August. However, his son Willi August was killed in Italy in 1944. The son’s death register from August 24, 1949 says that August is deceased and was last living in Gembitzhauland.
