Land Records
Johann Daniel Pollak, who lives in community of property with Anna Rosina, née Wandrey, following the death of his father, Mathias Pollak, in the settlement of the estate with his mother and siblings, accepted, pursuant to the amicable partition agreement of March 4, 1831, the sum of 245 thaler and a life annuity for his mother. Mathias Pollak purchased the same property more than forty years prior from Jacob Manthey, according to the sworn testimony of the witnesses Peter Siewert and Daniel Hoffmann, who were heard during the proceedings on May 3, 1831. Therefore, Johann Daniel Pollak’s title to the property was registered ex decrecto on August 4, 1838, based on the settlement agreement and the witnesses’ testimony.
Johann Daniel Pollak was born approximately 1804. He married Anna Rosina Wandrey (born 1807) the daughter of the deceased farmer Michael Wandrey from Strozewohauland, Kreis Kolmar on November 7, 1832. Anna Rosina’s sister was Johanna Louisa Splettstösser who owned Farm 13 with her husband Gottfried Splettstösser. On September 7, 1837, Daniel and Rosina split their 16 Morgen and 75 Quadruthen farm in half creating Farm 14A and Farm 14B. On that date the married couple sold the eastern half of their farm to Andreas and Johanna Louisa nee Manthey Mittelstädt for 196 Thalers, 7 Silbergroschen, and 6 Pfennig. The Pollaks purchased Farm 24 from Gottlieb and Louise Schultz on May 4, 1838, selling the balance of Farm 14 at that time.
Farm 14A
Andreas Mittelstadt, who lives in community of property with Johanna Louise, née Manthey, purchased Farm 14A by a contract dated September 7, 1837, from Johann and Anna Rosina Pollak, a married couple, for one hundred ninety-six thalers, seven silver groschen, and six pfennigs, and was consequently granted title to the property pursuant to the deed of conveyance dated December 4, 1843.
Johann Henke, who lives in community of property with his wife Caroline (née Selchow), purchased the property from Andreas and Johanna Louise Mittelstadt pursuant to a contract dated August 28, 1841, for 355 thalers; consequently, they were officially notified by them of the transfer of title on December 7, 1843.
Caroline (née Selchow) and August Schmidt, a married couple, acquired the estate of Johann Henke from his heirs pursuant to the settlement of November 11, 1847, for the sum of 270 thaler, and the title to the property was registered in their names on December 10, 1847.
Caroline Solche was born in Niewiemko to Christoph (1786-1860) and Anna Christina (nee Bloch) Solch on December 17, 1810. She had at least one daughter, Louise Henke born September 1842, with her first husband Johann Henke. After her first husband’s death she married August Schmidt. Caroline Solche Henke Schmidt died in Gembitzhauland on November 14, 1892.

August Schmidt was born August 15, 1820, in Grutzendorf, Kreis Obornik to Karl Friedrich and Anna Rosina nee Mass Schmidt. He married the widow Caroline nee Solche Henke prior to 1847. They had at least two children, Pauline Ernestine in 1850 and August Friedrich Schmidt. August Schmidt died in Gembitzhauland on March 18, 1887.
August Friedrich Schmidt was born in Gembitzhauland on May 21, 1852. On August 28, 1874, he married Wilhelmine Ernestine Pfeiffer (1855-1942) in Polajewo, Kreis Obornik. Ernestine was born in Radom, Kreis Obornik. She was a sister to Pauline Auguste Mittelstädt the owner of Farm 8 and Pauline Ottilie Witt the owner of Farm 5. Prior to 1907 the couple moved to Weissenhöhe, Kreis Wirsitz where unconfirmed records say that August Friedrich died in 1917. Wilhelmine Ernestine died at the home of her son, Gustav Ewald (born 1876) in Schneidemühl on October 5, 1942.
Gustav Julius Messal was born in 1849 to Gottlieb Messal and Anne Justine Hahnefeld. He married Ernestine Pauline Nikolai in Kruszewo, Kreis Czarnikau in 1876.
Rudolf Wilhelm Glesmer was born in 1867. He married Mathilde Pauline Minna Marquardt (also born in 1867) in 1894 in Bismarckhöhe, Kreis Czarnikau. Their son, Alfred Willi, was born in Gembitzhauland on October 2, 1897. Subsequently the couple moved to Kolmar where their daughter Meta Elise Margot Glesmer was born on March 31, 1905.
Ludwig Eduard Glesmer was the brother of Rudolf Wilhelm Glesmer. He was born December 6, 1870, in Romanhof, Kreis Czarnikau. He married Olga Stenzel in Bismarckhöhe, Kreis Czarnikau in 1898. The couple moved to Gembitzhauland June 3, 1898.

Property Tax 1863-1865
August Schmidt is the taxpayer in these records for Farm 14A. He is a cottager in these records.
August Taschner is the taxpayer for Farm 14B with a note that it is being sold to Christoph Spletter.
August Ferdinand Taschner was born July 9, 1833, in Strozewohauland, Kreis Kolmar. He married Karolina Jahnz in Czarnikau on May 24, 1857. The couple had one son who was born in Gembitzhauland, Emil Julius born July 26, 1861.
Christoph Spletter was born October 21, 1812. Prior to 1852, when their first son was born, Christoph married Anna Christina Wanke the daughter of Christoph Gottlieb Wanke and Anna Wilhelmine Dahlke, the owners of Farm 34. Christoph and Anna Christine had seven children. It is unknown where they lived prior to buying Farm 14B although their oldest son’s marriage record says he was born in Gembitzhauland in 1852. Christoph died of typhus on December 21, 1866.
Anna Christina married Johann Gottlieb Schöning on June 23, 1867, in Gembitzhauland. Gottlieb Schöning was born December 22, 1842, in the Kreis Czarnikau. At the time of his marriage he was living in Smieszkow, Kreis Czarnikau. The couple along with his son and a stepson plus two other young people from Gembitzhauland emigrated to Montevideo Minnesota to join Anna Christina’s brother and sister who had emigrated in 1867. The group landed in New York from Hamburg on September 17, 1883. Anna Christina died in Montevideo, Minnesota on January 25, 1903. Gottlieb had died prior on March 18, 1901. The couple is buried in the cemetery of St John’s Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo.
Church Affairs and Parish Tax 1876- 1879
August Schmidt is the owner of Farm 14A and Gottlieb Schöning is the owner of Farm 14B for each of the years. Both men are paying the lowest rate of Klassensteuer at 3 Marks indicating they both had a very small farm. In addition, in 1877 Gottlieb Schöning’s stepsons Ludwig and Julius Spletter are living with the family. Ludwig, born January 16, 1852, is a stonemason paying 3 marks of Klassensteurer and Julius, born July 3, 1854, is a blacksmith paying 6 marks. Both stepsons had recently married, Ludwig on April 14, 1877, and Julius on November 23, 1876, which is likely the reason why they are included on the tax list. In 1878 Julius is listed as a cottager now paying 3 marks. In 1879 Julius is still a cottager but is now living likely along the border with Althütte.

Julius Messall is listed as a farmer for Farm 14A in this record.
There is no listing for Farm 14B. This property may have been in transition at this time between Gustav Weidner and Julius Schendel. Julius Schendel was the former owner of Property 5 in Polajewohauland. He and his wife Pauline Messall moved to Gembitzhauland from Niewiemko on June 18, 1889.
Erdmann Gustav Weidner was born on August 2, 1847 in Strozewohauland, Kreis Kolmar. He married Anna Justina Krüger (born 1854) on February 14, 1877. On the morning of January 25, 1904, between seven and eight o’clock in the morning, he was found dead beside the path leading from Gembitzhauland to Neuhütte (Niewiemko), near the churchyard. It appeared that he likely died of a heart attack the night before.
Building Register June 1, 1907
Eduard Glesmer is the owner of Farm 14A. His farm consists of a house, a barn, and a combination horse, cattle, and pig barn. Julius Schendel is the owner of Farm 14B. He has a house with an attached cattle barn and another barn.
Community Register 1921 – 1933
When the community register is created after Gembitzhauland (now Gebiczyn) becomes part of Poland, former Farm 14A is now house number 24. Farm 14B is now house number 25.
Eduard and Olga Glesmer are still living on Farm 14A in 1922 with their four children.
Reinhold Bessert, who was born on January 6, 1877, is living on Farm 14B with his wife Bertha nee Kraft and their eight children. Bessert is a miller. The couple had moved to Gembitzhauland from Pilka, Powiat Wagrowiec on July 2, 1910.
