Land Records
Ludwig Otto (1821-1886) purchased a portion of Farm 7 for 15 Thaler by a notarized contract with Peter and Louise Kurtz on November 10, 1853. He was registered as the owner of Property 7B by virtue of a deed of conveyance dated June 18, 1854.
On May 7, 1855, Otto contracted with Martin Hoffmann to purchase 1 morgens and 66 square ruthen of forest land partitioned from Farm 6 for six thalers. Hoffmann had received the property from the landlord on May 3, 1847, when the common feudal lands were portioned. The deed was registered to Otto on April 14, 1856.
Ludwig Otto purchased from Gottlieb and Anna Eleanore MIttelstädt 152 square ruthens of forest land from their Farm 3 on April 22, 1856.
Johann Ludwig Otto was born March 21, 1821, to Michael and Anna Maria nee Solch Otto. His parents were the Holländer owners of Farm 25 in Gembitzhauland.
Otto married three times. His first wife was Louise Kloss who he married on May 26, 1850. At the time of Louise’s death on December 5, 1860, he is recorded as a farmer although in all other records his occupation is a cottager. Since in the land records he is buying forest land he likely supported his family doing some kind of woodworking.
After Louise’s death he married his second wife Wilhelmine Kühn. On June 11, 1864, the couple purchased Farm 13 in Polajewohauland. Shortly after selling their new property on June 10, 1871, Wilhelmine and her and Ludwig’s youngest daughter Pauline die in a smallpox epidemic. The family is living in Gembitzhauland at this time.
After Wilhelmine’s death Ludwig marries Anna Justina Hundt (1828-1877) the widow of Christoph Welk from Niewiemko.
Nine years after the death of his third wife Ludwig Otto dies in Gembitzhauland on February 14, 1886.

Ludwig Otto is listed as the owner of property but there is a pencil inscription that says it is now owned by August Werth.
Carl August Werth was born in Althütte, Kreis Arnswalde, Pommern in 1819. He moved with his wife, Friedricke Elisabeth Kiesow (1820-1891) and six children from Althütte to Gembitzhauland after 1862. August Wert died January 2, 1896 in Gembitzhauland.

For the years 1876, 1877 and 1878 Friedrich Kassner is recorded as cottager on this property. There is no entry for 1879.
Friederich Kassner, who was born in Gembitzhauland to Gottlieb Kassner and Rosina Schiewe, married August Werth’s step-daughter Auguste Kiesow (1843-1931) on May 16, 1869.
Later records have the family living on the Hinter Reihe.
